A Poem is Worth 10,000 Words

Monday, January 08, 2007
Sometimes poetry captures a moment in a way that no other art form can:

a mother's confession

a poet's letter to his baby son

a father's description of his daughter's power

the kinds of things mothers have to teach their daughters

the passage of time in a child's life

a snapshot of adolescence, springing forth

a description of an unhappy pregnancy

the death of a newborn

a poignant portrait of grief

Do you have some favorite poems that capture different moods/moments in a really powerful way?
